La Galería & La Tradición Flamenca

On Saturday 25 April, at the Auditorium Ansermet, the Festival Flamenco Nómada presents two performances in a single evening. La Galería and La Tradición Flamenca dedicate this night to creativity, heritage and the essential presence of women in flamenco.

Opening the evening, dancer and painter José Maldonado presents La Galería, a unique performance in which dance and painting are created live. Through this deeply personal work, Maldonado pays tribute to Carmen Amaya, the revolutionary figure who left an indelible mark on the history of flamenco. His artistic gesture, both choreographic and pictorial, converses with Amaya’s free spirit and reveals the immense influence she continues to exert on today’s artists.>

<The evening continues with Gema Moneo, a distinguished Gitana dancer from Jerez de la Frontera and heir to one of flamenco’s most emblematic artistic families. Highly acclaimed on the Spanish stage, Gema Moneo embodies the strength and depth of a living tradition, which she carries with a singular personality and luminous stage presence. Surrounded by her cuadro flamenco, she offers a dance that is vibrant, expressive and profoundly connected to her roots.

A night in which dance, painting, song and guitar come together to celebrate the immense contribution of women to flamenco and the legacy they continue to transmit.
